ESA AVHRR-LTDR Fire_cci Burned Area data: Grid product

AVHRR-LTDR Fire_cci Burned Area (BA) products v1.0 (also called FireCCILT10 for short) were obtained based on spectral information from the AVHRR Land Long Term Data Record (LTDR) product version 5 dataset (https://ltdr.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/ltdr/ltdrPage.cgi)

FireCCILT10 is a BETA PRODUCT, and it is available for years 1982 to 2017 at grid resolution (0.25 degrees). Year 1994 is not included in the dataset because there was not enough input data from the LTDR Archive to calculate the products for that year.


Details of the Grid product
---------------------------
The files in these directories include Burned area information with 23 individual layers: Sum of burned area, Standard error, Fraction of Burnable Area, Fraction of observed area, Number of patches, and Sum of burned area in vegetation classes as defined by the Land Cover CCI v.2.0.7 land cover product. 
The layer corresponding to Number of patches is empty (with a unique value of -1), as the resolution of the input data does not allow for a meaninful calculation of this variable. Still, the layer was kept for consistency with the other Fire_cci products.

A global coverage of 0.25 x 0.25 degrees grid resolution is stored in a single file for each monthly period. These files are grouped by year. 

The grid product is stored in geographical coordinates. Each cell has a latitude and longitude assignment which is tied to centre of the grid cell.
