ESA Fire_cci Burned Area data: Pixel product ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- Fire_cci Burned Area (BA) products v4.1 were obtained by combining spectral information from MERIS (http://earth.esa.int/instruments/meris/) and thermal information from MODIS active fires product (http://modis-fire.umd.edu/index.html). Fire_cci BA products v4.1 are available for years 2005 to 2011 at two different resolutions: pixel (300m) and grid (0.25 degrees). Details of the Pixel product --------------------------- The pixel product includes Burned area information in a single file with three layers: day of detection of the fire, confidence level, and the land cover of the pixel as defined by the Land Cover CCI v.1.6.1 product. The Spatial resolution of this BA product is 0.00277778 degrees (approximately 300 m at the Equator), the original resolution of MERIS FRS images. The Coordinate Reference System (CRS) used is a geographic coordinate system (GCS) based on the World Geodetic System 84 (WGS84) reference ellipsoid and using a Plate Carrée projection with geographical coordinates of equal pixel size. This product is distributed in continental tiles, covering North America, Central and South America, Europe & North Africa, Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Australia & New Zealand. For the geographic distribution of the tiles, please refer to the Product User Guide. File format ----------- The product is delivered in GeoTIFF format, and compressed into tar.gz files to reduce downloading file sizes. Further information ------------------- For further information see the Product User Guide at www.esa-fire-cci.org/documents, or in the ftp://anon-ftp.ceda.ac.uk/neodc/esacci/fire/docs/v4.1/ folder.
