ESA Fire_cci Burned Area data: Pixel product ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- Fire_cci Burned Area (BA) product v5.0 was obtained by combining spectral information from Terra MODIS at 250m spatial resolution (https://lpdaac.usgs.gov/dataset_discovery/modis/modis_products_table/mod09gq) and thermal information from MODIS active fires product (http://modis-fire.umd.edu/index.html). MODIS Fire_cci BA products v5.0 are available for years 2001 to 2016 at two different resolutions: pixel (approx. 250m) and grid (0.25 degrees). Details of the Pixel product --------------------------- The pixel product includes Burned area information in three individual files: day of detection of the fire (JD), confidence level (CL), and the land cover (LC) of the pixel as defined by the Land Cover CCI v.1.6.1 product. The Spatial resolution of this BA product is 0.0022457331 degrees (approximately 250 m at the Equator), the highest resolution of the MODIS data. The Coordinate Reference System (CRS) used is a geographic coordinate system (GCS) based on the World Geodetic System 84 (WGS84) reference ellipsoid and using a Plate Carrée projection with geographical coordinates of equal pixel size. This product is distributed in continental tiles, covering North America, Central and South America, Europe & North Africa, Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Australia & New Zealand. File format ----------- The product is delivered in GeoTIFF format, and compressed into tar.gz files to reduce downloading file sizes.
